Online gambling operator Betfair is partnering up with giant software developer Playtech to bring online poker to Spain, one of the major European countries that recently regulated its gaming laws.
Spanish online poker
Betfair and Playtech will offer online poker to the Spanish market by the end of October, with an eye to entering Italy’s recently liberalised poker market soon after. Betfair said following the deal that Playtech was the logical choice for providing it with the means to enter these new markets.
While details of this new site are still sketchy, it is assumed that Betfair’s Spanish online poker site will be similar to other country-specific sites, complete with the usual package of games, tournaments and promos, full Spanish-language support, and of course euro-compatible payment methods.
Other new markets
Playtech recently announced its agreement with BetClic Everest Group, which will see Everest Poker become part of its iPoker network. This move will see it enter the French market – considered to be one of the big four markets on the European continent along with Spain, Italy and Germany.
The French market remains a priority for Playtech, CEO Mor Weiser said, adding that he believes the combination of BetClic-Everest Group, one of the leading operators in the French market, with Playtech’s own technology solution, reinforces the software provider’s strategy in regulated markets.
